Mary Ryan

Mary Ryan’s dream is to use creativity, writing, and multimedia to make a positive difference in the lives of others. With a bachelor’s degree in journalism and public communications with a strategic communications concentration and minors in business administration and communication, she hopes to build a career where business and journalism overlap. She gained writing and leadership experience as the features editor then the managing editor of The Northern Light and president of the Public Relations Student Society of America at the UAA. The React, My Professors project has given her the opportunity to share and showcase the multimedia skills that she has learned in the past three years of her education, as well as shine a light on professors, who work hard to make UAA amazing. After graduating in the fall semester of 2020, she plans to achieve a master’s degree in strategic communications. In her free time, Mary enjoys swing dance, Irish dance, guitar, violin and making crafts such as dream catchers, friendship bracelets, wands and sketching.
Caleigh Jensen
Caleigh Jensen is a senior at the University of Alaska Anchorage majoring in journalism and public communications, concentrating in digital media and minoring in Spanish. She is currently the executive editor of The Northern Light, UAA’s student-run newspaper. In the past, she has held staff reporter, assistant arts & entertainment editor and copy editor positions at TNL. She interned at the Anchorage Daily News as a features clerk, at Alaska Public Media in the Creative Service Department and currently at the Alaska Travelgram as a special correspondent. She is the secretary of the Public Relations Student Society of America at UAA, the publicity chair for the National Society of Leadership and Success and a student board member of the Alaska Press Club board. After graduation, she plans to take a year off to travel and explore different parts of the world. In the summers, Caleigh is a commercial fisherwoman in Clam Gulch.
